Tooth Extractions

What Are Tooth Extractions

At the Forest Crossing Family Dental, we are committed to helping you keep your teeth for a lifetime. At times, however, an extraction is deemed the best course of treatment. Whether you are facing a simple extraction or the removal of wisdom teeth, you can rest assured that we will carefully explore and inform you to any other options before making the decision to remove a tooth. We understand that the process of having a tooth extracted can be daunting and we will make every attempt to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

When Is It Necessary?

If your tooth is broken, cracked or extensively decayed it may be necessary to remove it. Likewise, a tooth that is associated with advanced stages of periodontal disease should be removed, as well as teeth that are poorly positioned or non-functional.

Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. A very common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired. Other reasons include:

  • A crowded mouth
  • Infection
  • Risk of infection
  • Periodontal (Gum) Disease
